BDO Doubles Office Size

BDO, an accounting firm in Middleton, Wisconsin, needed additional spaced due to expansion and leased square footage in the same building, One Erdman Place. They developed plans for an updated space that would provide employees with the flexible working areas that their teams need and sophisticated spaces for guests.

Iconica was selected as the general contractor for the remodeling project. The schedule called for the work to be completed along with a new parking structure to accommodate the growing staff, designed and also constructed by Iconica. In addition to hitting the schedule, another critical team goal was to keep disruptions to a minimum for not only our client, but also the other tenants in the building. Remodeling occupied spaces creates challenges due to noise and odors and sometimes service interruptions from electrical and plumbing. Phased projects can also mean temporary moves to client employees. Our project manager and superintendent worked to ensure everyone involved had minimal disruption to their workdays.

The BDO office has a contemporary feel with lots of bright white, pops of red, and their branded navy blue. Remodeled areas include the kitchen, reception and entry areas which were refreshed with new wall coverings, flooring, lighting, and casework. Several new meeting areas, a new board room, and multiple café areas were added. Other improvements include staff locker areas, floor to ceiling glass walls, glass sidelights in private offices, and extensive HVAC, electrical, and plumbing work.

The building owner, a major tenant and also our client, BDO, gave unsolicited compliments to our team for the quality of construction and attention to detail in communicating and meeting expectations. The resulting new office space will allow BDO to grow from 30 employees to 130.
