Power Industry Client
This power industry client designs software and infrastructure for power distribution systems. Like many business owners, the company faced the problem of existing office space being at a premium and they had plans for future growth. A new layout, with room sizes and configurations designed for their specific needs would help them interact with customers and among team members more efficiently. In addition, a design that reflected their unique personality would help attract and retain employees.
Through a series of collaboration sessions with Iconica’s team of Architects, the design developed into a warm, industrial aesthetic that referenced circuit boards and the flow of electrical current. The ceiling structure was left exposed to showcase the steel supports and mechanical ductwork. Carpet planks were laid in two custom divergent patters to mimic the movement of electricity. Both features were designed to echo the system and infrastructure aspect of the business.
Glass garage doors set on either end of a large communal break room allow for the space to be transformed for multiple uses. When the doors are open, the room serves as a ‘highway’ running through the length of the office. When closed, the room provides extra meeting space for employees. The dramatic graphic countertop to ceiling consists of black wall tile and incorporates nine different circuit board patterns traversed by long, open maple shelving.
The company’s Vice President of Operations was complimentary of Iconica’s proactive approach every step of the way. “Their architects listened to our wants and needs and designed a space that really fit the culture of our company,” said the Vice President. “They pulled in their construction team at the same time so we could better make decisions by knowing what was financially possible. During construction, their team made everything seem to fall into place effortlessly. There were several hurdles to be cleared, and Iconica managed them without any added stress to us.” This power industry client designs software and infrastructure for power distribution systems.
