Meet Melanie: Telling Iconica’s Project Stories Through Marketing

When you ask Melanie what a typical day looks like, the first thing she does is laugh.

“Every day is different,” she says. One day she’s editing a video. The next she’s updating the website, writing a project story, or collaborating with our architecture, engineering, and construction teams to showcase their work. The variety is one of the many things that makes the role so rewarding.

As Digital Marketing Manager, Melanie helps tell the story of the people, projects, and expertise that make Iconica unique. Her work spans content creation, video production, website management, internal communications, and project storytelling. Whether she’s highlighting a completed commercial project or sharing an employee milestone, her goal is to help people understand who the team is and what they do.

Turning Technical Expertise into Stories People Understand

That work depends on collaboration. Melanie spends much of her time connecting with architects, engineers, construction professionals, and project managers to learn the details behind each project.

“A lot of it is just getting their expertise,” she says. “What are you working on? What’s happening on your project?” Those conversations help transform technical knowledge into stories that clients and community members can easily understand.

Learning the Value of Integrated Design-Build

Before joining Iconica, Melanie admits she knew very little about commercial design-build. Now, seeing the process firsthand, she appreciates how one integrated team creates a smoother experience for clients. She believes marketing plays an important role in showing what makes that approach different. As she puts it, the goal is to build trust by demonstrating how the process works and how it benefits clients.

Strengthening Communication Across Iconica

Behind the scenes, Melanie also helps strengthen communication internally across the company. She stays informed through project meetings, weekly project updates, and conversations with field and office staff. That information supports both external marketing and internal communications, helping employees stay connected no matter where they’re working.

Life Outside of Work

Outside of work, life has looked different for Melanie this past year. With a one-year-old, a dog, and family time taking center stage, weekends have shifted from spontaneous adventures to making the most of time together. You’ll often find her visiting a local brewery patio, spending time outdoors, or fitting in a camping or hiking trip whenever possible.

As new projects take shape and more stories unfold, Melanie is excited to keep finding meaningful ways to showcase the people and teamwork behind every project, helping more clients in Madison, Wisconsin, and beyond discover the value of integrated commercial design-build.
