About His Role
What does your role as a Business Development team member at Iconica involve?
“I open doors and move projects from idea to an actionable plan. That means identifying opportunities, meeting owners and operators, scoping needs, shaping early concepts with our design and preconstruction teams, and guiding prospects through budgets, phasing, and schedules so they feel confident saying go.”
How does business development contribute to Iconica’s architecture, engineering, and construction services?
“Business development is the connector. I translate client goals into a clear program for our architects and engineers and align budgets and timelines with preconstruction, so everyone is working toward the same vision.”
What does a typical day look like for you?
“Pipeline reviews, outreach, and first-meet calls; site walks; quick working sessions with design and preconstruction to rough-in scope and square footage; and a steady cadence of follow-ups to keep decisions moving. I also spend a lot of time networking—attending meetings, groups, and events from Madison to Milwaukee. Every so often, you’ll find me in a marketing video or driving ACE to an event, too.”

What skills or experiences prepared you for success in this role?
“Relationship building, concise communication, and comfort with asking for business. I’m hands-on with early feasibility and listening to the client’s needs. My past experiences in listening, problem-solving, and communication helped prepare me for this role. The team at Iconica did a wonderful job bringing me up to speed on our process and how we stand apart with our design-build methods.”

How do you approach building relationships with potential clients and partners?
“Be useful first. I lead with listening, bring a crisp next step—like a concept test-fit or budget range—and keep promises small and fast. The goal is long-term partnership, not a one-off project.”
How do you collaborate with Iconica’s architects, engineers, and construction team when working with clients?
“I pull the right voices in early. We co-create a simple concept package—program and square footage, utilities, phasing, budget bands, and a rough schedule—so owners can compare options like a new build vs. addition vs. remodel before they commit.”

Personal Side
Outside of work, what are some hobbies or passions that keep you busy?
“Family time tops the list. My wife, Kate, and I enjoy spending time outdoors with our son, Henry—going on hikes, taking neighborhood walks, and visiting the park. Henry loves dirt piles and rocks, which keeps things entertaining! We’re also excited to be expecting another boy in March, so we’re getting ready for that big change.”
