Dental Implant and Periodontal Specialists Expansion

Dental Implant and Periodontal Specialists has a lot to celebrate. The practice located on Madison’s west side recently expanded into the adjacent tenant space on Mineral Point Road, adding treatment rooms, lab and sterilization spaces, and an additional office.

The result is more room for patients, more capacity for the clinical team, and a space that feels like it was always part of the existing clinic. The expansion also brings a new face: Dr. David Dunbar recently joined the practice as an associate periodontist. To mark both milestones, the practice opened its doors to the community for an open house celebration.

What’s New

The expansion gives the practice the space it needs to keep growing and serving more patients. New spaces include:

• Treatment rooms that expand capacity for implant and periodontal care
• Lab space to support in-house work and efficient workflows
• Sterilization space sized to keep pace with more treatment rooms
• An additional office for the team

The Work

Iconica served as the design-build partner for the expansion, managing both design and construction as a unified team. The primary objective was to integrate the new space seamlessly with the existing clinic.

This process began with demolition of the existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the adjacent suite. The team then constructed new partitions and installed updated finishes, casework, and flooring. New plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems were incorporated to support the clinical areas, along with building modifications to connect the new suite to the existing facility.

With engineers, architects, and construction professionals on staff, Iconica carefully planned for treatment rooms and sterilization areas that require specialized plumbing, air handling, and power. Addressing these details early ensured the expansion felt seamless for patients and staff from day one.

All of this took place while the clinic remained open. Patients continued receiving care, and the team worked closely with the practice to sequence construction and minimize noise, dust, and disruptions, especially during the critical phase of connecting the new suite to the existing clinic.

Celebrating Together

The open house gave patients, neighbors, and partners a chance to tour the new space, meet Dr. Dunbar, and celebrate with the Dental Implant and Periodontal Specialists team. As the design-build partner, Iconica was happy to support the event by providing the Iconica Food Truck.
