Banking on Sun Prairie
Starion Bank chose Iconica to help expand its presence in Dane County. Iconica designed and constructed the Sun Prairie branch, completed in mid-November. The new building is just over 5,000 square foot and leaves plenty of room for employee and customer needs along with a drive-through, extended hours and a MoneyPass ATM.
Iconica’s team of architects, engineers, and construction managers joined forces with the Starion bankers to ensure a successful project, in addition to smoothly navigating the city’s approval process. This synergy fully establishes the project from start to finish for the ultimate product.
Some of the unique features of the bank are the actual dimensions. “We had a tight place to work with and wanted to maximize the visibility and functional ability for staff and customers. Every inch of the building was thought through. The bank drive-through was an interesting feature to design around due to the spatial needs of the pneumatic carrier and making sure there was plenty of flow and parking for customers,” said Iconica Architectural Director, Bob Feller. Iconica worked closely with Tim Semmann, the Sun Prairie city planner on the project to make sure the intent of the general development plan for the area was fulfilled. Semmann said, “The result is a unique and functional building that adds to the fabric of the Grand Avenue corridor for the benefit of customers and employees alike.”
Iconica built Starion’s first bank in Wisconsin in 2006 in Middleton. They opened a branch in Sun Prairie in 2013 in a temporary location adjacent to the new facility we designed. They acquired a third Dane County location in Monona in 2015. Starion is a family owned community bank based in Bismarck, North Dakota, with 12 additional banks throughout the state.
