MSCR West
Iconica’s architecture and engineering teams were selected by Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) to bring a former big box retail store on Madison’s west side into a thriving community center.
Designing for over 80,000 community members served by MSCR, Iconica optimized the layout to create expansive, adaptive rooms custom-tailored to fulfill the community’s diverse needs. The multi-functional spaces include dance studios, art rooms, a pottery studio, and a gymnasium with dedicated pickleball, volleyball, and basketball courts.
Captivating murals grace the facility’s walls and add a touch of creativity and athleticism to the center’s atmosphere. These 64 photos were thoughtfully curated in collaboration with MSCR staff. Iconica architects then artfully enhanced each image by adding a selection of different colors that can be seen throughout the design. The murals serve as both a source of inspiration and a testament to MSCR’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for Madison residents while also fulfilling Iconica’s dedication to creating spaces that foster community and growth.
BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK
To make the building feel more welcoming and connected, Iconica architects strategically placed interior windows throughout their design, which let in natural light and break up long hallways. This particular window looks into one of the exercise studios.
