CAR-X

After 45 years on the 1000 block of East Washington Avenue, Jeff Bernstein decided his Car-X shop was in need of a new look, and new location. Iconica helped to fulfill his wish by designing and building an upgraded version of the full-service automotive repair shop. The new 4,100 square-foot, two-story building includes more service bays, more parking, a better lounge for customers, and more visibility.

Construction Project Manager, Scott Strutt, enjoyed working with the client to improve the shop. “I like that we took an unused lot and created the best looking Car-X that I’ve seen.” John Seamon, Project Architect, also enjoyed working on this project. “I enjoyed working closely with Jeff on the design and entitlements.  He was genuinely fun, smart and always respectful of my time and experience”, Seamon noted.

Construction of the shop began in April and was completed in mid-October two weeks before the client needed to be fully moved out of the old location. Regardless of the timely completion, the team still faced challenges with getting the project approved within the scope and budget.

Due to the new developments in the surrounding neighborhood, and the accessibility, and visibility of the location, the client is hopeful that the new site will have a positive impact on the business.
