They discarded the notion that the most popular local framing system, steel joist and deck, is the best system. Having had good experience with alternate systems on other projects, they priced several systems and discovered that, for this application, a composite joist system, using studded joists, would use significantly less steel, impacting both the framing and foundation costs. In addition, fewer pieces result in a faster erection time. They found a better way – engineering a lighter framing system saved the owner significant dollars.
