Bold. Not to mention unique and ambitious. A few words that describe the world created inside KeyLime Cove. Situated 40 miles north of Chicago, this 50,000-square-foot waterpark and 414-room hotel combine to give the visitor the experience of an authentic island retreat. To give the resort life, details were important to bring out the American Coastal theme and are woven into every aspect of the brand experience. It’s one of the often overlooked factors that Iconica imparts to projects – helping to develop the brand vision and building it into reality.
In order to undertake a project of this magnitude a new level of partnership was developed with the client. Our design and construction teams worked lockstep with the client throughout the process, ensuring every inch was on brand. And despite the enormity of the resort, the project was completed in 15 months – on time and on budget – even with 57 days of weather delays.
THE BETTER WAY
The 15-month construction schedule for this project was fast. Through integration and collaboration with our team in the field, Iconica was able to solve crucial issues on the spot, which would have derailed a traditionally delivered project.
When developing a new brand for a project, our first objective is to gain insight and provide the brand architecture. We then challenge the brand to see what is sacred and what can be improved upon. We test every decision with the question, “Is this supporting or weakening the brand?” The result is better spaces that are brand-proven the second you walk through the entrance.
FROM THE DESIGNER
The lobby is a complex space. It needed the tropical character of an outdoor environment. We designed the lobby to invite people into those spaces to serve as venues that promote the eclectic Key West Americana coastal vibe.
