How long have you worked for Iconica?
What does a regular day at work look like for you?
Every day varies: design work, jobsite visits or client meetings
What do you enjoy about your current work?
I enjoy working on the bigger projects, it gives you more time to connect with the project and people involved.
You work in a male dominated area. How do you handle that?
Women are in the field it may not just be as obvious. Women are not discouraged from architecture. At design school is was evenly split and today I feel we all respect each other no matter what gender.
Do you have a dream project?
I always wanted to design a modern house, something you would see on a contemporary architecture magazine cover.
Do you have a recommendation for people wanting to join your field?
Try and learn as many of the digital design programs as possible. The more experience you have with those programs, the less intimidating it will be even with future updates and changes.
What are some of the benefits of Iconica’s integration team atmosphere?
We have the advantage of knowing the contractor and superintendent on the jobsite. Any issues that come up are easier to solve. At Iconica there is a shared knowledge and awareness of the specialties. I know so much more about my team and their work, along with our shared expertise of the market and design.
What’s on your playlist right now?
Listening to Spotify, south by southwest mix.
The Iron Block Building, a Civil War era building turned into offices. We won a national award for the renovation.
What do you want to do next?
There’s a lot of potential with senior living, creating places for the aging population that help with health and mindset.
