What is your name?
How long have you worked with Iconica?
What do you do here?
I am the Digital Marketing Manager. I help tell the Iconica story through a variety of digital channels including social media and our website. I develop, implement, and manage marketing campaigns that promote the company and enhance brand awareness.
What does a typical day look like for you?
No two days are the same. Even with a very structured day planned out, something unseen always arises which keeps me on my toes. Typically, though, I am monitoring our social media, creating campaigns and marketing content, capturing photos/video, and working with the architectural and design teams to make sure I am supporting their marketing needs.
What has been your favorite project you have worked on thus far?
Our “Adventures with ACE” video series. Working with video is still very new to me so it has been a great learning opportunity while allowing me to tap into my creative side. It has been a ton of fun conceptualizing and directing our video shoots and taking ACE into the community. It’s nothing like I’ve done before.
ACE is our company food truck. While we don’t make the food, we take ACE into the community and do appreciation events that may serve food, give out swag, or provide an opportunity to gather with employees, clients, subcontractors or other businesses and organizations in the community.
How did you get involved in marketing?
I never had intentions of being on this path. In college, I studied politics and wanted to work on political campaigns. But, somewhere along the way, it sparked my interest. I have always been very creative, and I discovered I could channel that into a job. I started applying to entry-level marketing jobs and someone gave me a chance. I have been learning and growing ever since.
What did your journey pre-Iconica look like/what led you here?
My first marketing job was within the construction industry with an engineering firm. There, I got a better understanding of the engineering side of things and how the industry operates. After that, I did a mix of B2B and B2C marketing across different industries. I eventually got my MBA as I looked to obtain a Marketing leadership role. I then saw Iconica was hiring and thought it’d be a great fit. I have always enjoyed architecture and construction and everything else seemed to fall into place. It’s a great-sized company and the digital marketing platform has a lot of room to grow. I jumped at the opportunity to work here.
I have two! One is from Sardine in Madison, WI – oysters, duck salad, and fries.
My second is all you can eat crab legs.
Dream concert to go to?
Dolly Parton or Black Sabbath.
Do you eat your pop tarts hot or cold?
Hot but no fruit flavors.
If you were an animal, what would you want to be?
A cat or a dolphin.
Are you currently watching any series or reading any books? Any you’d recommend?
Currently, I am watching Betty on HBO Max. Home Before Dark is good on Apple TV – it’s based on a true story of a nine-year-old who has a newspaper and helped to solve a murder. I also like documentaries, so I’ll watch a lot of those.
I also really enjoy reading cookbooks. I am always trying to develop my skills. My current favorite is Cook this Book by Molly Baz.
Cooking! It is how I unwind after work. I love creating recipes and hope to write a cookbook someday.
Favorite thing to cook?
Comfort foods like soups and pasta. I also like to make a lot of different Asian foods.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Morning person – I usually get up early and go to bed early
Favorite way to drink your coffee?
Iced with almond milk
Best advice your parents gave to you?
Do what you need to do to be happy – don’t compare your timeline to others
A favorite thing or biggest positive to come from Covid?
I enjoyed spending time at home and doing activities I wasn’t focused on and doing as much of before. I became more of a homebody through COVID, and I don’t mind that at all.
I want to give a shoutout to all the people who work at Iconica. Everyone on the team is willing to help with marketing efforts however they can. Leadership has been a huge help in defining our marketing vision and creating a collaborative environment for marketing efforts to thrive. There is so much room for creativity which makes my job a lot of fun!
